Politics of Speech - Freedom of Speech and Censorship

  • Radar 3 Skovgaardsgade Aarhus C, 8000 Denmark (map)

We will take you on a voyage through personal and professional testimonies concerning freedom of speech and censorship. What threatens free speech Today? What are the limits of free speech in a multi-cultural democracy? Is the debate on free speech framing multiculturalism as a threat in itself, and if so, does is promote acceptance of hate speech? How does freedom of speech/censorship affect the individual?

Through theatre, debate and spoken word these questions will be the pivot of this event presenting acclaimed names within the public debate; Khaterah Parwani and Poyâ Pâkzâd and personal experiences of censorship from Soran Azad. Moderator is Rune Engelbreth Larsen, Board member of Danish PEN.

Produced by Founders in collaboration with Danish PEN.
